The wellbeing of humans is foundational to the COMSA (Café Organico Marcala, S.A. - Finca Humana) philosophy and educating more than 1,500 producer-members to successfully live in harmony with nature is the cooperative's primary aim. It starts with the La Fortaleza, the COMSA biodynamic demonstration farm where the focus of transferring knowledge takes place through week- long seminars called Pata de Chucho.
COMSA dedicates significant funding from the proceeds of coffee sales to run educational classes aimed at young people and dedicated to educating and training them to be the future leaders of Finca Humana. The quality of the coffee is based on 3 fundamentals: traceability to the Marcala region, which is a protected designation of origin (DENOMINACION DE ORIGEN CAFE DE MARCALA); meticulous post-harvest hand sorting of cherry; cherry floating to remove less dense beans; proper fermentation; long drying times; and a healthy dose of the COMSA philosophy and training.
This Fair Trade, Organic certified high grade arabica coffee comes from a co-op of organic farmers in the La Paz region. Grown organically at high altitude and within the area's microclimate, these beans are balanced with a bold and rich taste, natural sweetness and low acidity. Our medium roast encourages notes of sugar cane, blackberries and cinnamon from this phenomenal coffee.
This is an ORGANIC variety and Fairtrade Certified.
